re-orienting

A GROUP ART SHOW IN WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN

Re-Orienting is a group exhibition by eight NYC-based Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) artists exploring present identity, generational memory, and the vast, complicated ways of existing as "Asian American" individuals. Together, these works question the bounds of the categorical term "Asian American/AANHPI" while celebrating the depth of diversity it holds.

While Asian American diasporic stories are increasingly flattened or branded into stereotypical narratives, this project elevates our layered experiences of learning how to find and create home within ourselves. From stories of grief, illiteracy, and colonization to queer joy, this show is our loving offering to gently add depth to 'stinky lunchbox traumas,' while rolling our eyes at recent waves of chinamaxxing.
